Dental Care

Does your pet have bad breath?

Bad breath is often the most common sign of dental disease in pets.

Dental disease is a progressive disease and without intervention can often lead to other diseases in the body.

All pets over the age of 3 years old will need regular dental check ups with your Vet as 80% of dogs and cats over 3 years old suffer with gum disease.

Gum disease is very painful for your pet and often causes reduced appetite among other things. If your pet is not eating due to gum disease causing pain when eating they are then not receiving enough nutrients from their food and so will lead to further problems.

Preventative treatment is key. Everyday the tartar increases on your pets teeth. We can try and brush our pets teeth daily but this is not always as easy as it sounds. In cases where there is a lot of tartar build up your vet can descale and polish the teeth to avoid the tartar building up around the gum line and causing gum disease. Prevention is better than cure.
